Our
cottage, which we affectionately call Littlebrick, was built by members
of the Spets family. It was constructed almost entirely from salvaged
material from Big Brick, the communal residence of the colonists who
settled Bishop Hill. Big Brick was destroyed by fire in January 1928.
By the end of that same year Littlebrick was completed. We acquired
it in 2002.
March
'06: We just got started when the roads were closed to heavy truck
traffic due to ground frost. We hope to have the equipment back by
May 1st when we'll continue cleaning the wood lot. Until then we will
empty and tear down the garage pictured here. Ugh. This
is a view looking west showing the new drive and what will be a parking
area.
